Its a real honour for Obsurvant be working in partnership with the Night Time Industries Association.
In November, 2025 we released the first wave of our new research, ‘Navigating The Night’, exploring consumer sentiment around nightlife in the UK.
65% said that ‘experiencing nightlife boosts their overall mood and happiness’
59% said it ‘significantly enhances my quality of life’

The importance of the night-time economy really shines through in our data, but so do the pressures it faces.
The data gives us a starting point for understanding how consumers across the UK feel about and are engaging with the night-time economy. It reflects everything from going to theatres and restaurants to heading out to bars, clubs and late-night events, covering activity between 5pm and 5am.
Completed by 2,009 nationally representative respondents, our research into UK nightlife provides a snapshot of behaviours and confidence in the night-time economy. Running quarterly, the study will build a continuous base, helping us monitor how perceptions evolve and where attention is most needed from a consumer angle.

Supporting the industry means removing barriers, managing rising costs and ensuring it’s accessible to everyone, yet the public doesn’t feel confident that is happening.
Sacha Lord FIH, Chair of the NTIA says:
“This survey confirms what we see every night: unsafe streets, poor transport, and rising costs are preventing people from accessing nightlife. Desire to engage remains strong, but without action on infrastructure, safety, and affordability, we risk cutting off a generation from vital cultural experiences.”
